Cruelty-free beauty products are products that have not been tested on animals at any stage of production. The importance of these products is rooted in the ethical treatment of animals and the preservation of our environment. Here at Sweet Sprig no product or ingredient is tested on animals and all our products are 100% vegan.
Animal testing involves the use of animals to test the safety and effectiveness of products. This process can cause pain, distress, and even death to the animals involved. By choosing cruelty-free products, you are taking a stand against animal testing and supporting companies that prioritize ethical and sustainable practices.
Cruelty-free products are also better for the environment. Animal testing often requires the use of harsh chemicals and can result in the release of pollutants into our ecosystem. By using cruelty-free products, we can reduce our impact on the environment and promote sustainable practices.
Choosing cruelty-free beauty products is an important step towards a more ethical and sustainable future. By supporting companies, like ours that prioritize these values, we can create a better world for ourselves and for future generations.
New York State has recently passed the New York Cruelty Free Cosmetics Act, a law that prohibits the manufacture sale of cosmetic and personal care products that have been tested on animals. This law aims to promote cruelty-free practices and protect animal welfare.

exfoliation for brighter skin
Exfoliating your skin is essential for achieving healthy, glowing skin. It can help to remove dead skin cells, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and unclog pores, allowing your skin to breathe. In this blog post, we’ll take a closer look at why exfoliating is so important and how you can incorporate it into your daily skincare routine.
What Is Exfoliating?
Exfoliating is the process of removing dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. This can be done using one of our exfoliating soaps. Exfoliating helps to reveal the newer, healthier skin cells beneath the surface and can help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, age spots, and other signs of aging.
Why Is Exfoliating Important?
Exfoliating helps to remove the buildup of dead skin cells, dirt, and oil that can accumulate on the surface of your skin. This buildup can cause skin to look dull, rough, and dry. Exfoliating helps to keep your skin looking vibrant and healthy. It can also help to unclog pores and prevent breakouts.
In addition to removing dead skin cells, exfoliating can help your skin to absorb more of the skincare products you use, such as moisturizers. By using an exfoliating soap you can remove the layer of dead skin cells, allowing your skin to absorb the product more effectively.
How Often Should You Exfoliate?
How often you should exfoliate will depend on your skin type. Generally, it’s recommended that you exfoliate once or twice a week. However, if you have sensitive skin, you may want to limit exfoliating to once a week.
When exfoliating, it is important to be gentle. Use a light touch and avoid harsh scrubbing motions.
Incorporating Exfoliating Into Your Skincare Routine
Exfoliating is an important part of any skincare routine. You can incorporate exfoliating into your routine by using an exfoliating soap once or twice a week. Sweet Sprig creates many varieties of soap with varying exfoliants. Those include: Coconut Grapefruit, Electric City, Lemon Poppyseed, Mohawk Sunset, Mountain Blueberry, Oatmeal Shea Butter, Patchouli Orange
5 Causes of dry winter skin
Don't let dry winter skin get you down! There are a number of factors stacked against us in the Winter that causes our skin to feel dry, cracked and itchy. Tackle it with these five tips and you'll be feeling smooth, soft, and hydrated in no time. 🤗
1️⃣ Cold weather 🥶 - To stay warm and cozy, layer up with clothes made of natural fibers like wool, which trap heat and keep you nice and toasty. Before getting dressed in the morning apply our Hand + Body Cream to create a nourishing barrier for your skin.
2️⃣ Taking hot showers 🚿 - Avoid hot showers, as they can strip away natural oils, leaving skin dry. Instead, take warm showers and use moisturizing natural soaps like our Oatmeal Shea Butter bar.
3️⃣ Low humidity in heated indoor air💨 - Invest in a humidifier, which can help add moisture to the air and keep your skin hydrated.
4️⃣ Lack of sun exposure ☀️ - Vitamin D is essential for healthy skin, so try to get out for a few minutes each day to catch some sun.
5️⃣ Not drinking enough water 💧 - Staying hydrated helps keep skin looking healthy and vibrant. Make sure to drink plenty of water every day. This is our favorite water bottle and you'll never see us without it.

use our products fresh
All of our products are made in our Schenectady studio fresh. We have one to two days per week dedicated to just producing our amazing soaps, candles and skincare. Small, fresh batches means you are getting the full effects of plant-powered beauty. We use natural botanical ingredients whose benefits fade with time. This is why we suggest using our products fresh.
As a society we are used to commercial beauty products that are pumped with toxic ingredients in order for them to be shelf stable for years. Our products contain natural ingredients and safe synthetics and are best enjoyed within the first 6 month-1 year of purchasing them. I know it is a bit of a transition to think of your skincare as something you shop for on a monthly basis. I like to build it as a routine. Shop for your body products fresh on a regular basis the same way you do for fruits and veggies. Your body, skin, and soul will thank you!

Thinking about the best way to care for my skin isn't something I took seriously most of my life. Using all natural soap nearly my entire life and good genetics has blessed me in the skincare department. In recent years as I have delved into skincare development I've learned more about how to create the best skincare regimen for how my body is right now. In another five years my body might need more from me but for now I have found a simple, safe morning skincare routine that works for me.
I am a keep-it-simple kinda gal when it comes to skincare rituals. Less is more for my skin. I'm looking to the power of plants to hydrate, balance and heal my skin. The only make-up I wear is occasional mascara, brow pencil, eyeliner and highlighter. My favorite brand for make-up currently is the Honest Company. I am very sensitive to eye make-up and most other natural brands irritate my eyes.
My Morning Skin Care Routine:
❤ Wash my face with Sweet Sprig Carrot Basil Soap or Sweet Sprig Tea Tree + Calendula ( I alternate every couple of days.) In the summertime I swap out the Tea Tree Soap for Sweet Sprig Activated Charcoal soap to clean out bug spray, suntan lotion, sweat and environmental toxins.
❤ Once my skin has dried I apply Sweet Sprig Wild Carrot Replenishing Face Cream. My cream contains Carrot Seed Essential Oil, which enhances skin health and repairs damage on skin that has been exposed to pollution and environmental stress which leads to signs of aging.
❤ At least once per week (sometimes twice) I use a Sweet Sprig Botanical Facial Steam to deep clean my pores and give my skin a soft glow.
My Evening Skincare Routine
❤ Rinse face with warm water, pat dry with towel
❤ Remove eye makeup with Qet Botanicals brand Eye Makeup Remover
❤ Apply straight unrefined coconut oil in small gentle circles as needed
